Accountabilities
We are seeking a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to join our Breast Oncology division! In this role, you will serve as the local medical voice of AstraZeneca in the disease area of interest, building a local medical strategy to improve patient care and outcomes in your territory. As an established field-based professional with extensive scientific, clinical, and therapeutic area expertise, you will provide medical and scientific support for AstraZeneca's oncology marketed products, new indications for current products, and compounds in development.
Essential Skills/Experience
Act as the local medical leader responsible for developing a tailored strategy to meet the AZ USMA priorities in the disease area, as well as the local specificities and patient needs.
Develop strong working relationships in different external business settings (e.g. academia, hospitals, managed markets, private practices)
Lead scientific exchanges with oncologists and key members of the MDT.
Lead peer to peer scientific/medical interactions
Gather insights on the treatment landscape, evolving healthcare environment and practice, barrier to optimal treatment and patient care or opportunities to improve outcomes of patients with cancer
Discuss with KOLs data and educational gaps to ensure adequate use of our medicines and to inform our R&D strategy to address patient needs
Stay current with scientific knowledge and attend relevant scientific meetings and conferences.
Desirable Skills/Experience
Advanced scientific degree required (i.e. Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD, PA or NP) in a relevant health science or clinical discipline
Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
2+ years of MSL experience or relevant therapeutic area experience
Demonstrated expertise in discussing scientific content and context to multiple audiences
Strong understanding of clinical study design and protocols
Basic understanding of the Healthcare system, clinical trial methodology, statistics and regulatory environment
Excellent project management ability
Ability to travel (40-60% by car, train and plane domestic)
Doctorate strongly preferred in a health science or clinical discipline
